Clean beauty that goes there
Our mission is to change the way people think about what goes into products, onto your skin, and ends up in the environment. The world doesn’t need another kinda-checking-the-clean-box beauty retailer or product line. The industry needs a reliable voice to ask the questions that lead to more informed choices.
Credo clean means that we ask about the source of the ingredients, as well as potential safety, sustainability and ethical concerns.
We are pushing for greater transparency and more available information in a supply chain that is often murky and full of marketing claims.
We believe that all consumers deserve the best and safest cosmetic products. We work diligently to understand the hazards and potential risks of ingredients that we use everyday, and over a lifetime, through our own science-based hazard assessments and partnerships with experts in the industry. We recognize that the beauty industry is not fully transparent in its practices, so we work hard through our questioning, our policies, and our advocacy work to lead the change needed.
Our Sustainable Packaging Guidelines require our brand partners to meet specific standards meant to eliminate the use of single-use items and reduce the use of virgin plastic and non-recyclable materials. We also offer our brands best practices from packaging design to end-of-life management, and connect them with preferred packaging suppliers so we can reduce barriers to implementation and spur innovation.
Just treatment of humans should be the norm, but sadly it’s not. We believe understanding and working to protect the health and well-being of people all along the value chain, from manufacturing workers to the communities near manufacturing facilities or sourcing locations is a critical part of clean beauty.
Of course, no Credo products are tested on animals. But we also push beyond this with our sourcing guidelines. Sustainable sourcing means doing as little harm as possible to the environment to meet current needs, without compromising the needs of the future. We ask our brand partners to share information on ingredient/material source, safety substantiation, ingredient purity, sustainability, and material composition.
