THE SMR-C5 COMPLEX (Skin Mimetic Restore Complex)
A breakthrough innovation developed over 3 years of research in collaboration with the AgroParisTech Chair of Cosmetology.
Composed of 5 biomimetic actives naturally found in the skin, it targets its three fundamental functions:
- Protect: Strengthens the skin’s natural defense systems.
- Hydrate: Enhances the skin’s own hydration mechanisms for long-lasting moisture.
- Regenerate: Supports intercellular communication and stimulates cell renewal.
The 5 ingredients include:
- L-Carnosine (dipeptide): A powerful antioxidant that protects cells and structural proteins from free radicals, UV damage, and glycation. An anti-aging ingredient.
- Amino Acids and Minerals: Stimulate natural moisturizing factors (NMF) and ensure water retention within skin cells. Provides long lasting hydration and improves skin suppleness.
- Oligosaccharides: Reduce water evaporation at the surface and promote its retention in the stratum corneum. Provides prolonged hydration and strengthened skin barrier.
- Oligo B-Glucans: Enhances skin firmness and elasticity and reduces visible signs of fatigue. Helps revitalize the complexion.
This complex was clinically tested on cell cultures and human skin models and was found to visibly firm and rejuvenate - leaving skin stronger and healthier over time.
The founding story of Mimétique is, above all, a personal and scientific story.
Fabienne Sebaoun grew up in France surrounded by a family of dermatologists, developing an early obsession with skincare that saw her shielding her skin from the sun and experimenting with French dermocosmetics as a child. That fascination became a career: she earned a degree in cosmetic formulation and spent sixteen years working for major beauty companies in Paris and Montreal.
When COVID-19 brought her back to France, she used the time to study further at university in Grasse, determined, in her words, to "crack the code" and understand how to unlock the skin's full potential-which is where she discovered the science of biomimicry. This principle of working with the skin's own natural processes became the foundation of her brand, Mimétique, built on the belief that healthy skin does three things: protection, hydration, and regeneration.
Rejecting what she calls "marketing fairytales," Fabienne developed the brand's proprietary Skin Mimetic Restore Complex (SMR-C5), a five-ingredient blend created alongside a committee of dermatologists to boost hydration, increase collagen production, and strengthen the skin barrier.
The result is a skincare line rooted in scientific rigor and a lifelong devotion to helping skin function at its best.
