Sensitive skin is at the heart of everything we do here at Pai: our products, our formulas, our certifications and everything in between. Pai's philosophy is that the best organic ingredients provide superior efficacy and are better tolerated by sensitive skin.

We are one of the few skincare companies who proudly formulate and manufacture our products ourselves in our London lab. Yes, each and every one.

While outsourcing can certainly make life easier (not to mention cheaper) we believe its vitally important to take ownership of every single step of the process, from creative conception to the moment its in our customer's hands. That way we can promise exceptional quality, every time - without compromise

Owning every step of the journey – from sourcing all of our organic ingredients and obsessing about how they're stored, to how each product is packaged – means we have full creative control as well as responsibility. It means we can adapt and iterate in whatever way necessary to be the best we can, from upping our sustainability commitments to improving the customer experience based on your feedback.

Importantly, this end-to-end control over our products benefits our customers, too. It’s allowed us to launch Pai Labs, an incubator hub where our chemists can respond to trends and customer requests at speed.

It also means that we can 100% guarantee that the products we send out are of the absolute highest quality, and pass our certifying bodies’ strict criteria.

WHY PAI?

Certifications

B CORP CERTIFIED
We’re certified by B Lab – the nonprofit network behind the B Corp movement. The famously rigorous vetting process looks at our company’s governance, people, community, environment and customers, to verify we meet high standards of social and environmental impact.

So why did we do it? Because we’ve always been about doing good – for you, for your skin, and for the planet. As a B Corp, we make a commitment to continue to do the right thing, while being accountable and transparent.

And in return, B Lab creates standards, policies, tools, and guidance for us all to help shift existing behaviors and do better for our society at scale.

INDEPENDENTLY PATCH TESTED
We independently patch test all our products to make sure they’re suitable for both sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

THE SOIL ASSOCIATION
So you can be sure our certified organic products are truly organic, we are accredited by the Soil Association.

This involves third party checks, annual inspections, detailed production records and traceability paperwork that guarantee:
Pai products carrying the Soil Association kitemark are 100% natural and at least 70% of (non-water) ingredients are organically grown and harvested.
All of our organic ingredients are non-GM, sustainably grown (without pesticides) and harvested, and extracted without the use of chemical solvents.
Any non-organic ingredients we include have passed strict toxicity and biodegradability criteria and carry a non-GM certificate.

COSMOS NATURAL CERTIFICATION
We believe that if a product is natural, the majority of ingredients must be from nature. Unlike many other ‘natural’ products ours are certified to a Soil Association COSMOS Natural standard.

COSMOS Natural certification means:

  • No animal testing has been conducted.
  • A minimum of 98% of ingredients are of natural origin.
  • Any non-natural ingredients must meet strict standards, green chemistry principles and cannot exceed 2% of the formulation.
  • No endangered plant species may be used and no GM Ingredients.
  • No controversial chemicals, parabens and phthalates are in the product.
  • No synthetic colours, dyes or fragrances.

LEAPING BUNNY APPROVED
Pai Skincare believes that beauty products should be cruelty free. We are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements.

All of our own brand cosmetic and personal care are approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products. We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited.

THE VEGAN SOCIETY
We are independently accredited by the Vegan Society.

To carry this kitemark, our products are individually assessed each year for the potential inclusion of animal ingredients, including those not present in the final product.

ISO 22716 CERTIFICATION
This certification is an international standard of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for the cosmetics industry.

It ensures we maintain high standards at every stage of the entire supply chain, and continually improve our processes and practices too.

Founder's Story

“Out of the blue, I developed urticaria and my usually calm skin became irritated, hyper-sensitive and acne-prone. Trying to keep it under control was a daily battle and finding products that didn’t contain problem ingredients brought a whole new challenge. I‘d reached a dead-end with a cabinet full of products claiming to be “hypoallergenic” and “organic”, let down by their ingredient lists full of synthetics and irritants.

I just wanted effective skincare I could trust and depend on and creating Pai was my way of taking back control.
